Illinois Senator Peter Fitzgerald Cosponsors Flag Burning Amendment

July 19, 1999

You wouldn't think that after twice being defeated within the past ten years that the United States of America would have to ponder the issue again, but since the House passed on June 24, 1999 House H.J. Res. 33, (the proposed constitutional amendment declaring that Congress shall have power to prohibit the physical desecration of the U.S. flag), we find we're at the threshold of Stalinist Communism again.

Even scarier is that Illinois Senator Peter G. Fitzgerald is cosponsoring the Amendment in the U.S. Senate.

After sending Mr. Fitzgerald a calm, pointed letter about the dangers of such an Amendment, I received a form letter from the Senator's office written to deal with dissenters such as myself.
